I felt resistance to jump into the work this month. I read the material a few times and let it swirl around in my head without the motivation to sit and write. Until I was able to get clear on my “why” this is important, I felt uninspired. The work is just beginning and the assignment is actually not finished in many ways. I realize that I am a work in progress with anti-racism practices and thinking about and verbalizing issues of race, racial identity and DEI vocab is a new muscle for me to flex. So thank you for the patience and space to allow the unfurling of my mind, body and spirit. I truly believe that individual embodiment is the key to societal liberation and this deconstruction is necessary for not only myself as a healthcare professional but more so the collective in order to heal, restore and evolve.
