Micro-aggressions, Values and Uncomfortable

About the event

  1. Wrong Handed picture - The answers to our problems really aren't that complex. This activity requires that we reframe how we look at things and explore possibilities.
    1. Values -  What are our shared values? What are the values that we are willing to sacrifice and why?
    2. Racial Healing #3 - Relearn the History of Racism - So much of what we learn in our history books is about race and racism growing up is inaccurate or incomplete. There is so much more information we all need to know about the history of race and racism in the world in order to better understand how we got to this point.
    3. Microaggressions: What are microaggressions? Microaggressions are brief, every day, verbal, behavioral and environmental exchanges, both unintentional and intentional, that send disparaging messages to individuals based on their group membership. Microaggressions can have a serious impact and should not be dismissed because of their brief or often unintentional nature. Researchers have linked continuous exposure of microaggressions to depression, anxiety-related symptoms, diminished psychological well- being and physical health.
